Brazilian forward Neymar expressed his discontent after not being called up by coach Carlo Ancelotti for the upcoming friendlies of the Brazilian national team. The star of Santos FC admitted to feeling “molested and sad” about the coach's decision, although he made it clear that he maintains hope of returning to wear the Canarinha jersey in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
After participating in a Kings League match, the forward spoke openly about his absence from the Brazilian national team's call-up. The striker assured that, although he respects the technical body's decision, he cannot hide his disappointment.
“Obviously, I'm molested and sad not to have been called up, but the concentration remains the same: day by day, training by training”.
Despite his frustration, Neymar made it clear that his goal remains to regain his place in the national team.
Coach Carlo Ancelotti pointed out that the decision is based mainly on the player's physical condition. According to the Italian coach, the player is not yet at 100% physical form, despite having shown flashes of his quality in the matches he has played with Santos.
Ancelotti added that the door to the national team remains open for the striker.
Despite the blow of being left out of the friendlies prior to the tournament, Neymar trusts that he will still have an opportunity to return to the national team before the World Cup.
“The dream remains alive because there is still a call-up. We will achieve our goal”.
The forward maintains the illusion of playing in the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
Neymar has not played with Brazil since October 2023, when he suffered an injury in a match of the South American qualifiers against Uruguay national football team.
Since then, the forward has faced a complicated stage marked by injuries and muscle problems that have limited his continuity.
Despite this, the player remains a historical figure for the Brazilian national team.
With the World Cup getting closer, the challenge for the striker will be to regain his best level and convince the technical body that he can still be a key piece for the Canarinha.
