Alejandro Domínguez assured that the next World Cup 2030 will be played with 64 teams and not 48 as the one that recently ended. This would be the second consecutive edition in which the World Cup significantly increases its number of participants. In Qatar 2022 , the World Cup was played with 32 teams, for 2026 it increased 16 places and rose to 48 and finally in 2030 it will include 16 more combined teams to reach 64 teams; double what was four years ago. The idea of 64 teams was something that Gianni Infantino, president of the FIFA, had already put on the table, however, mentioned that this will be analyzed once the 2023 World Cup is over, but it seems that the decision was already made and the CONMEBOL leader got ahead of the news. ## HOW THE GAMES WILL BE DISTRIBUTED? Today, it is unknown how the six hosts will distribute the games for the 2030 World Cup.
